Lisa Lowe – Dr. Khanal
Congratulations to our MARC@UHM Scholar 2021-2023, Lisa Lowe! She presented her research entitled “An Investigation Into the Physicochemical Properties of CO2 Nanobubbles” at the 2022 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Symposium. Her research mentor is Dr. Samir Khanal. Currently, Lisa’s MARC research project is on CO2 Nanobubbles in Microalgal Culture.
Caleb-Matthew Olaso – Dr. McFall-Ngai
Congratulations to our MARC@UHM Scholar 2021-2023, Caleb-Matthew Olaso! He recently published a manuscript entitled “A peptidoglycan-recognition protein orchestrates the first steps of symbiont recruitment in the squid-vibrio symbiosis” as the first author in Symbiosis Journal! He is now mentored by Dr. Matthew Medeiros, and his MARC project is on the microbiome of Aedes albopictus modulates host lipid storage and starvation resistance.
Keanu Rochette-Yu Tsuen – Dr. Alegado
Congratulations to our MARC@UHM Scholar 2021-2023, Keanu Rochette-Yu Tsuen! As a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Hollings scholarship recipient, he had the opportunity to travel to Huron, Ohio to conduct research this past summer. He is mentored by Dr. Rosie Alegado and his MARC project is on Tracking Leptospira bacteria in the He’eia watershed.
